You probably know that a good quality lens is as important in a digital camera as it is in analogue ones. You are probably also aware of megapixels and how the higher the number means a crisper image.
Image stabilisation capabilities are something you should look out for. This is the way that modern digital cameras can compensate for wobbly hands and the need for high exposure times in low light conditions.

It's also worth looking at the suite of software applications that come with the camera package. Most digital cameras are supplied with a suite of applications to download, process and edit digital images.
