Nikon D90 Camera Features

by admin on 2009/05/29

At first look, the Nikon D90 camera looks like the D80. When I finally got the unit, I needed to check the badge to make sure that I got the right camera.

Since the D90 looks so alike its predecessor, the camera appears as if it is only one of those cameras with subdued incremental upgrades. Not true. Dig deeper and you will be surprised to know that it has features to keep Nikon fans more than happy.

Autofocus system

Similar to the Nikon D80 viewfinder, the D90 viewfinder features an 11-point AF system in a diamond arrangement. Still sporting the name Multi-Cam 1000, the autofocus engine of the D90 has been updated to include the 3-dimensional focus tracking. The D90 also sports the Face Detection system that biases AF points to favor eyes over noses and other objects in the scene.

Live view features

Activating the Live shooting feature on other Nikon cameras means turning the Drive Mode control to Lv, hen you should press the shutter button to lock up the mirror. This is barely instinctive, but the D90 features a live view button that you can find at the back of the camera. It is within easy reach of your thumb.

Scene recognition

Nikon has worked on scene recognition features for years, and now is the time to reap the fruits of their hard work. Their latest models have seen improvements to the system. The Nikon D90 comes with this feature.

The bottom line

The potentialD90 consumers are the existing owners of the D80. Building on the potency of its exceptional predecessor, the D90 has an awful lot going for it. This latest offering from Nikon upgrades a number of specs and comes with several new features over the excellent D80.

The bottom line is, the D90 is a remarkably well-rounded DSLR offering. I highly recommend it.
